The parent club, an association of Latvia's National Armed Forces and its Military Sports Gymnasium, has taken the Latvian Championship ten times since 1993.

It has held its own place in the SynotTip Virslīga since at least the 2013/2014 season without adding a trophy of its own. The closest it came recently was in 2025/2026, when it reached the bronze medal series and lost it to HK Ogre.

Training takes place at the NBS Sporta kluba zāle on Krustabaznīcas iela, but home matches are played some way outside Riga, at Salaspils Stadium, a ground with 648 seats and room, on paper, to grow toward 5,000.

HK Ogre is the name that keeps coming up: the club that beat ASK/MSG II to bronze and the kind of domestic opponent a reserve side measures itself against, given that its own senior team plays a different level of rival entirely.
