Tumba Women

The handball section at Tumba grew out of a decision on 9 October 1970 to give the club's women a team of their own; the men followed three years later, in 1973. Producing nine Swedish youth championship titles across different age groups, including golds in the girls' category in 2012 and the boys' in 2013, the club developed players such as Erik Hajas, who came through that youth system before winning the World Championship in 1990 and Olympic silver in 1992 and 1996, and later returned to Tumba to play in Division 1 and coach.

The women's team reached Sweden's top flight only once, playing the 2012/2013 Elitserien season under the sponsorship name Caperiotumba. It finished bottom of the table without a single win in 22 matches, conceding 675 goals to 418 scored, and went straight back down. Tumba then pulled out of the second tier for 2014/2015 and rebuilt from Division 3, eventually earning promotion to Allsvenskan for 2018/2019 — only to be relegated again.

The men's side had the longer top-flight run, spending seven seasons in Elitserien between 1998 and 2005 and reaching the Swedish Championship quarter-finals in 2001. Matches against Tyresö are still known locally as the Stockholm derby, while games with Huddinge carry the label of the Southern Suburbs derby.
