Batlama Hüseyin Avni Alparslan Kapalı Spor Salonu

The Batlama Hüseyin Avni Alparslan Kapalı Spor Salonu does not pretend to be a cathedral of sport. The building sits on a 24-dönüm plot identified as parcel 10, block 152.

Its capacity is 3,500 spectators. Other sources sum only the fixed and telescopic sections to reach 3,135, but the official inauguration documents confirm the total of 3,500. The playing surface is a natural wood parquet floor. Public procurement tenders for the facility specifically requested FIBA-approved basketball hoops and protective floor covers.

The hall measures 29 by 49 meters. It hosts basketball, volleyball, and handball matches. The venue serves as the home ground for Giresunspor’s volleyball and handball teams, as well as for Giresun University events. It was officially inaugurated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on January 29, 2022. The facility is named after Şehit Binbaşı Hüseyin Avni Alparslan, a commander of the Giresun Volunteers during the Battle of Sakarya.

In October 2022, the access road was widened to 12 meters. Minor maintenance included the addition of handball court lines in 2022 or 2023.
