Sokolovna TJ Sokol Praha Vršovice

The building standing at Vršovické náměstí 111/2 does not look like a football stadium, and it is not one.

The structure was completed in December 1933, after architects Alois Dryák, Jaroslav Polívka, and Bohumil Hübschmann began work in 1930. It served as a cultural and physical education centre for the local community rather than a venue for match attendance. The main hall inside has a wooden parquet floor, which is kept in good condition for volleyball and handball, but there are no rows of seats for spectators.

Tělocvičná jednota Sokol Praha Vršovice (TJ Sokol Praha Vršovice) has operated in the building since January 1992. The club’s history stretches back to 1869, and the building itself has not changed its name, though the organisation inside has.

The ground is often confused with the larger football arena in the same district, Eden Arena, which is the home of SK Slavia Prague. This is a different place entirely, located elsewhere in Vršovice. The Sokolovna is a community hall where people come to train, not to watch a game. There is no capacity figure for this venue because it was never built for crowds.
