The BeNeLeague is a cross-border professional ice hockey competition involving teams from Belgium and the Netherlands. Founded in 2015 by the national federations of both countries, the league merged the Belgian Hockey League and the Dutch Eredivisie to create a unified top-tier structure for the region. The competition began with separate national groups that eventually evolved into a single division, culminating in a shared playoff format to determine the champion.
Participation includes clubs such as UltimAir Hijs Hokij Den Haag, Unis Flyers Heerenveen, Tout Bien Leuven Chiefs, and Liege Bulldogs. The league is recognised as the highest level of ice hockey in the Benelux area, featuring teams that benefit from the sporting infrastructure of both nations. Notable champions within the league’s history include REPLAY HYC Herentals, UNIS Flyers Heerenveen, Hijs Hokij Den Haag, and Bulldogs de Liège.
In 2024, the competition underwent a significant structural change, rebranding as the Central European Hockey League (CEHL). This transition followed the inclusion of German clubs into the existing framework, expanding the geographical scope beyond the original Belgian-Dutch partnership.
