Dynamo Moscow edged past Mikhailov Academy U20 by a single goal in a six-five opening encounter in the MHL on Monday. The result leaves both sides level on points after their first match of the campaign, which is hardly surprising when you consider they both sit at zero games played.
And here's the thing about a scoreline like that — it tells you the game was wide open from the start. Six goals for one side, five for the other, and neither keeper had much of an evening. You don't see that many chances created in a game that ends 6:5.
Dynamo Moscow came into this with mixed recent form. Three wins and two losses across their last five outings, including a comfortable 3:2 win over Amurskie Tigry on September 3rd. To be fair, the defence has looked more solid than the results suggest — they've kept a couple of clean sheets on the spin lately.
Mikhailov Academy U20 have been a different proposition. They rattled off three consecutive wins before a 3-4 defeat to Almaz, but those victories included a 6:0 demolition of Sakhalinskie Akuly and a 6:4 win over Dynamo-Shinnik. By then, you could see the pattern — they attack, they concede, and the game becomes something else entirely.
The standings remain unchanged, which is to say nothing has changed at all. Both teams still occupy sixth and eighth with zero points and zero games played — the table hasn't moved an inch. But six goals scored and five conceded tells you where this season could be heading for both clubs.
