Sheffield dismantle Glasgow in Elite League rout
Glasgow hosted Sheffield in the Elite League on Saturday, and the visitors ran away with the contest. The final score read 1:6, a result that reflected the visitors' dominance throughout the ninety minutes. It was a lopsided affair from the off.
Sheffield had been playing in goals galore recently. They beat Nottingham 3-2, then dumped five past Guildford, and followed that with a 6-0 thrashing of Coventry. Glasgow, meanwhile, had traded blows at both ends, losing to Belfast and winning against Cardiff.
And here's the thing, we had this one pencilled in. Our forecast called for a Sheffield victory with 53 per cent confidence. To be fair, the away side looked sharper in the build-up and took their chances when they came.
The home side struggled to find rhythm against the visitors' pace. Sheffield kept their side in it until the final whistle, capitalising on every opportunity. Glasgow were left flat-footed and could do little to stem the tide.
The result leaves Glasgow at sixth in the table, while Sheffield move up to second place. The standings remain fluid at this stage of the season, but the gap in performance on the day was stark.
