Incheon United claimed a 2:1 victory over Bucheon FC at the Incheon Football Stadium on September 8th in the K-League 1 regular season. The win moved the hosts up to seventh place with 27 points, while Bucheon remained tenth on 19 points after their 19th match of the campaign.
Jefferson Fernando Isidio opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, giving Incheon an advantage they would not relinquish. The goal came from sustained pressure, though the hosts created no big chances throughout the game.
Bucheon responded quickly. Stefan Mugoša, playing for the away side, equalised in the 43rd minute to level proceedings before the interval. The visitors had already begun to sense blood after their heavy 5:0 defeat to Daegu Hanas Citizen five days earlier.
Incheon regained the lead just after half-time. The decisive moment arrived in the 45th minute plus one, when a yellow card for Gustavo of Bucheon coincided with the go-ahead goal. By then the match had tightened things up considerably.
The statistics told a different story. Incheon dominated attacks 87 to 59 and held 61 per cent possession, yet their shot accuracy sat at a modest 33 per cent. Bucheon, with 56 per cent accuracy and five shots on target against four goalkeeper saves, had more opportunities to find the net but could not convert.
The result extended Incheon's recent struggles. They had lost 1:0 to Seoul last week and drawn 1:1 with Jeonbuk Motors on August 30th, while Bucheon's form had deteriorated sharply since their 1:1 draw with Anyang. This was a hard-fought point rather than a statement victory.
