KalPa — Lukko: 1:2, Liiga

KalPa hosted Lukko in the Liiga on Saturday evening and came away with a 1:2 defeat. The visitors took all three points after a game that swung back and forth through the periods. KalPa sit ninth in the table with six games played, while Lukko are seventh after seven outings.

The hosts paid for a sloppy opening and found themselves trailing early. Lukko controlled the middle periods and kept their lead intact as the game wore on. KalPa pushed for an equaliser late on but could not find the back of the net.

We had given KalPa a narrow win with 53 per cent confidence before kick-off. The prediction did not come off. Lukko's structure in their own end and the ability to switch to a back three when needed made all the difference.

The win moves Lukko further ahead in the standings while KalPa remain in the lower half. Both sides have yet to collect any points from overtime or shootout situations this season.
