Odense advance in Cup tie
Odense beat Kolding 2-1 in the Danish Cup Round of 32 on Tuesday evening. The result sends the visitors through to the next stage while Kolding's cup campaign comes to an end at this early point.
N. Ganaus opened the scoring for the hosts in the forty-fourth minute, catching them on the break before the interval. Odense responded immediately after the restart — T. Keskinen equalised on the forty-sixth minute and S. Yateke put his side ahead just four minutes later. And here's the thing about that sequence: the hosts had barely settled when the momentum shifted entirely.
Kolding held a yellow card for G. Friberg in the twenty-seventh minute, while Odense avoided any booking. Both sides shared possession evenly at fifty percent, which tells you the game was balanced in territory but decided in those brief moments. Kolding had more to do all evening after going behind.
There were plenty of changes on both benches. Kolding brought on F. Arp and C. Gammelgaard in the fifty-eighth and fifty-ninth minutes, while Odense made three substitutions between the seventy-second and seventy-eighth minutes. The coach at Kolding tried to raise the tempo, but the visitors had nothing to do then.
We had called for an away win before kick-off and that prediction came through. Odense showed they could respond to their heavy defeat to Copenhagen earlier in the week, and here they got over the line against a Kolding side that had won their previous league match.
The result means Odense move into the next round of the Danish Cup, while Kolding return to league action with their domestic cup hopes already extinguished.
