Kolner — München Red Bulls: 2:4, DEL

Köln lost 2:4 to Red Bull Munich in the DEL on Thursday evening. The visitors took control of the tie from the opening exchanges and never looked back. The scoreline reflected a match where the away side were simply sharper.

And here's the thing — Köln had won three of their last five before this one, but they were left flat-footed when it mattered. Red Bull Munich, meanwhile, had not won since their trip to Adler Mannheim and came in looking to turn things around. They did.

By then the prediction was already in doubt. We had backed the hosts at 46 per cent confidence, but the game went the other way. Köln's defence cracked in the middle period, and once Red Bull Munich found space they made the difference.

Both sides sit on zero points after four games, two wins and two losses each. The table tells you nothing yet — the season has barely begun. What it does show is that form from September means very little by October.

Red Bull Munich's run ended at Frankfurt Løven last time out, and Köln had faced Augsburg Panthers. Neither side carried momentum into this one. The visitors took what they got and moved on.
