Merrimack Warriors — New Hampshire Wildcats: 4:3, NCAA

Merrimack Warriors defeated New Hampshire Wildcats 4:3 in their NCAA meeting on Thursday evening. The home side took all three points from a match that produced seven goals between them. It was a result that shifted the balance in their favour.

Both sides sit on zero points in the standings at this stage, though the games played tell a different story. Merrimack have completed 29 fixtures while New Hampshire have seen 30. The table does not yet show a clear hierarchy, but the gap in experience between the two groups is becoming visible.

Merrimack arrived with mixed recent form. They had lost 3:6 to Quinnipiac and 0:3 to North Dakota before stringing together three consecutive victories. New Hampshire, meanwhile, were coming off defeats to Quinnipiac and Northeastern, plus losses to Connecticut and Providence. The hosts had found their rhythm; the visitors had not.

And here's the thing — they had called for the home side to prevail, with 63 per cent confidence. The prediction held up. Merrimack's players carried the side through a tight second half, and the result reflected the quality gap that had been building over the previous weeks.

The victory keeps Merrimack in fifth place, while New Hampshire remain tenth. The goal difference will matter once the standings begin to separate properly. For now, the hosts have extended their run and put pressure on those below them.
