Dynamo Pardubice U20 dismantled Karlovy Vary U20 6-2 in the Czech ELJ on Thursday. The hosts took all three points at home, ending a run that had seen them lose their last outing. To be fair, the visitors had looked solid in their previous league game, but this match told a different story entirely.
By then, Pardubice were already playing with confidence. They had scored seven goals in back-to-back matches before this one, and the fluency carried over. Karlovy Vary, meanwhile, were still picking up after their narrow defeat away to Trencin. The gap between form and expectation opened quickly.
We had tipped the visitors to win, but that forecast evaporated somewhere around the first twenty minutes. The hosts pressed high up the pitch and punished them from a corner. Once the rhythm shifted, Karlovy Vary could not find their footing. There is a difference between losing a game and losing your shape, and this was the latter.
The statistics do not tell the full tale, but they confirm the dominance. Pardubice controlled the tempo and created chances without panic. Karlovy Vary managed to score twice, which suggests they were not entirely switched off at the back, but the deficit was too large to claw back. A fourth straight win for the hosts would have been a statement, but this result went further than that.
What the scoreline means on the table is clear. Pardubice sit top of the ELJ U20 standings after eleven matches, with eight victories and three defeats. Karlovy Vary remain in third place after ten games, their record unchanged apart from this latest outing. The hosts now have a cushion that will not disappear overnight.
