Sanok — Bytom: 1:6, Polish Hockey League

Bytom defeated Sanok 6-1 in the Polish Hockey League on Thursday evening. The result leaves Sanok rooted at the bottom of the table with zero points from four games. Bytom move further clear in second place with five wins from six matches.

Sanok paid for a sloppy opening and never recovered. They conceded early and were left exposed throughout the contest. Bytom switched on from the start and never let the hosts back into the game.

We had backed the visitors before kickoff with 70 per cent confidence. That call was right, and not just because Bytom were favourites. Their recent results show a side at full strength, while Sanok have lost every game this season.

Bytom got their work rate spot on from the opening face-off. They pinned Sanok back and made the most of every opportunity. The visitors closed the game out with authority and did not need to chase the result.

Sanok's losing run stretches to four matches now. They have failed to score more than one goal in any of their last five outings. The hosts are closing in on a difficult period ahead.

Bytom's form has been impressive since the season began. They have won five of six games and are building momentum. The gap between them and the rest of the league is growing.
