Slovan Bratislava HC — Kosice: 3:4, Extraliga

Košice defeated Slovan Bratislava HC 3:4 in the Slovak Extraliga on Sunday, 20 September 2026. Both sides entered the game on winning streaks, each having taken two victories from two opening fixtures. The away side held on for the result despite Slovan's home advantage throughout.

And here's the thing — the prediction for an away win came through. Forty-two per cent confidence was not much to go on, but Košice were the sharper side when it mattered. Slovan had looked solid in their previous two matches, but this was a different test.

The home side had won 3:0 against Dukla Michalovce and 4:2 with Nitra before this fixture. Košice's recent form included a 2:1 victory over Nitra and a 4:1 win against Prešov. Both teams arrived with momentum, which made the result all the more significant.

By then, both clubs sat level on points after two games each. The table does not tell you much this early in the season, but the result shifts the balance slightly. Košice extend their unbeaten run while Slovan taste defeat for the first time.

To be fair, hockey matches are decided in moments rather than sustained dominance. The scoreboard reads 3:4, and that is what counts. The visitors showed enough composure to see their lead out.
