Stjernen — Vålerenga, Fjordkraft-ligaen

Stjernen hosted Valerenga in the Fjordcraft League on Wednesday, 1 October, and watched as the visitors ran out 0-8 winners. The result leaves the hosts rooted at the bottom of the table despite their earlier displays of firepower.

Both sides arrive with zero points after three and two games respectively, so the standings have not shifted in any meaningful way. Cup football has its own rules, but this was league football and the numbers speak plainly.

Stjernen had won two of their previous three matches, including a 5-2 victory over Ringerike and a 4-1 triumph against Stavanger Oilers. Valerenga, meanwhile, were unbeaten in two outings, beating Narvik 6-2 and taking a 4-1 win over Frisk Asker.

The prediction of an away victory looked reasonable given Valerenga's attacking form, and they delivered in the most emphatic fashion. They carved them open from the outset and never looked back.

Eight goals against a side that had scored in four of their last five matches is a statement result. Valerenga are running out of games to prove themselves, and this one was enough.
