Traktor to Miss Coach Gordon for Ak Bars Clash
Scott Gordon stayed in Yekaterinburg under medical observation after feeling unwell, and will sit out Traktor's road game at Ak Bars in Kazan.
Tractor will go into Wednesday's trip to Ak Bars without head coach Scott Gordon, who felt unwell after the club's previous match against Avtomobilist and has stayed behind in Yekaterinburg under medical observation.
"Scott felt unwell after the match with Avtomobilist. We made the decision that he will stay under medical observation in Yekaterinburg and will not fly to Kazan. Our head coach's health comes first in this situation. I want to reassure everyone straight away: Scott is feeling well, but he will be away from work for another couple of days. Based on the current situation, we expect him to rejoin the team once Tractor return from this road trip," said Savin.
The match against Ak Bars kicks off at 19:30 Moscow time. Tractor have opened the KHL regular season with a win and a defeat, while Ak Bars have won both of their games so far, one of them a 5-1 rout of Gordon's side by Lokomotiv having come in between. Ak Bars also added a piece to their roster this week, taking forward Yegor Sokolov in a same-day trade via Dinamo Minsk.
With Gordon absent, the trip to Kazan falls to whoever takes charge in his place, against a side that has started the campaign with a perfect record.
