Alexander Nikishin Draws Interest From Nashville
Insider Elliotte Friedman says the Carolina defenceman, a restricted free agent, could use Zeev Buium's $9.38m-a-year Vancouver deal as a benchmark.
Nashville have looked at Alexander Nikishin as a target, according to insider Elliotte Friedman, with the Carolina defenceman now a restricted free agent.
Friedman said the 24-year-old could point to the new contract handed to Vancouver defenceman Zeev Buium — eight years at $9.38m a season — as a benchmark for his own next deal.
Nikishin put up 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) with a plus-18 rating in 81 regular-season games for Carolina last term. In the play-offs he added one assist in 17 games, finishing minus-1.
