Sidney Crosby Downplays Chase for 2,000 Career Points
Crosby, at 1,761 career points, says reaching the 2,000 milestone would take three strong seasons but insists winning matters more than personal numbers.
Sidney Crosby has set out where the 2,000-point mark sits on his list of priorities, and it is not near the top.
The Pittsburgh forward has 1,761 points for his career. Only six players in NHL history have reached 2,000: Wayne Gretzky leads with 2,857, followed by Jaromir Jagr (1,921), Mark Messier (1,887), Gordie Howe (1,850), Ron Francis (1,798) and Marcel Dionne (1,771). Crosby, 39, sits just short of Dionn's total.
Reaching 2,000 points would put him second on the all-time list, above Jagr.
