Igor Larionov Jr on Battling Back Injury Last Season
The SKA forward says he played through pain before back surgery, missed the Spartak game, and is now feeling fully fit again.
Igor Larionov Jr told Sports.ru he spent much of last season trying to play through a back injury that eventually needed surgery in the United States, and that he is now fully fit.
The Forward is the son of SKA head coach Igor Larionov. He played 24 matches for the St Petersburg club last season, scoring 2 goals and adding 4 assists, and stopped playing in mid-December once the back problem forced him out. On 6 September SKA extended his contract to May 2027.
Asked about his summer preparation, Larionov said a full training camp did not happen this time round.
He sat out the club's game against Spartak as he continues to build up his fitness.
