Nikitin: CSKA did not play a model game in 5:0 win over Lada
CSKA coach Igor Nikitin said the team made mistakes despite the 5:0 KHL win over Lada and admitted the second period was not good, though a goal helped.
CSKA beat Lada 5:0 in the Fonbet KHL Championship, and head coach Igor Nikitin did not accept that it was a model performance.
Asked whether his side had played a model game, Nikitin said: "No, we made mistakes too, of course. There was simply mutual cover, mutual help. That is the game."
He was then asked whether CSKA looked more assured in the 2nd period, and whether that was a response to Lada or a plan. "We did not play well in the second period," Nikitin said. "But we scored a good goal, and it gave us an impulse."
If that is how the staff read the game, a 5:0 win will not change the work in training. It may mean the bench takes the 2nd period as the part to fix.
