Tkachyov's Agent Weighs In on Kravtsov Injury Dispute
Shumi Babayev says Avangard's handling of Tkachyov's Achilles injury shows how clubs should treat players hurt in unsupervised training, unlike Traktor's stance with Kravtsov.
Vladimir Tkachyov's agent, Shumi Babayev, says clubs should not be left to write their own rules on players who get hurt training alone in the summer, and has pointed to how Avangard handled his client's Achilles tear as the standard to follow.
The comparison comes from the case of Vitali Kravtsov, who ruptured his Achilles tendon this off-season while preparing for the campaign on his own. Traktor, Kravtsov's club, then offered to convert part of his salary into bonus payments — a proposal the forward rejected.
Babayev drew a parallel with Tkachyov, who suffered the same injury in 2024 while still with Avangard and preparing independently for the season. Omsk kept paying his salary in full throughout his recovery.
Babayev said, when asked whether the two cases had anything in common.
Asked about proposals to change KHL regulations after injuries sustained during unsupervised pre-season training, Babayev said the issue is hard to legislate.
He said.
Babayev added that the most workable solution would be for players to disclose their training arrangements to their clubs. he said.
Tkachyov, now at Metallurg, made a full recovery from the injury and has since combined in attack with teammate Sergei Tolchinsky, who said last week the pair could produce more together with additional ice time. Kravtsov's absence, by contrast, remains open-ended, with the pay dispute at Traktor still unresolved.
