Jordan Staal signs extension with Carolina Hurricanes
The 38-year-old captain agreed to a one-year deal for 2027/28 worth up to $10 million with bonuses, a season after winning the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy.
Carolina have extended captain Jordan Staal for the 2027/28 season.
The coming year had already been the last of Staal's four-year deal, which carried a cap hit of 2.92 million dollars.
General manager Eric Tulski explained the decision to keep the centre in Raleigh.
Staal has played for the Hurricanes since 2012. Last season he lifted the Stanley Cup with the club and was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, becoming the oldest player to win it.
