CAS to Hear Russia's Appeal Against IIHF Ban

The Court of Arbitration for Sport will hear the Russian Ice Hockey Federation's appeal against its exclusion from IIHF competitions on 22 October, "Match TV" has reported.
The case concerns the IIHF's decision to keep Russian national sides out of the 2026/27 season despite a ruling in the federation's favour by the IIHF's own disciplinary board. That board had upheld the Russian side's complaint and annulled an earlier council decision barring the teams on security grounds. The exclusion was extended regardless.
The Russian federation and the IIHF agreed to an expedited process for the dispute. The federation filed its appeal with CAS on 31 August.
The federation's director general, Dmitry Kurbatov, has said the CAS ruling will be binding on the IIHF.
