"We started with the right attitude," Lockhart points to a higher defensive line and quicker transitions. "We are allowing opponents fewer chances and finding ways to win games. That is the direction we want to keep going in."
Summer signings Comtois and Galchenyuk are sidelined, but Lockhart insists the new system holds. "There have been some changes: new players, new coaches. I think our new style is designed for sustained success and should help us get through both the regular season and the playoffs."
Spartak signed Maxim Comtois and Alex Galchenyuk in the offseason. Both have since been injured. Lockhart called them good, experienced players who fitted in well. "They have played in North America and in the KHL and had success," he said. "Of course we miss them now, but we are trying to keep producing results, and when they come back it will make our team even stronger."
