Shutov, Zamula, Goldobin named KHL players of the week
Barys goaltender Andrei Shutov stopped all 51 shots he faced, while CSKA's Zamula, SKA's Goldobin and rookie Shcherbakov also took weekly honors.
Andrei Shutov has been named the KHL's goaltender of the week for the first time in his career, after a week in which he faced 51 shots in two matches for Barys and stopped every one of them.
CSKA's Yegor Zamula takes the defenceman award for the first time, having posted four points (1+3) across two matches with a plus-3 rating. His goal against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod stood as the winner in a 3-2 result.
SKA's Nikolai Goldobin was named forward of the week for the fourth time in his career. He needed only one match to do it, collecting five points (1+4) with a plus-5 rating.
The rookie award went to Salavat Yulaev defenceman Nikita Shcherbakov, who had two points (1+1) in three games with a plus-2 rating, alongside one hit, two blocked shots and one takeaway.
Shcherbakov's award arrives as Salavat Yulaev try to settle their goaltending after that defeat. For Barys, Shutov's clean week may go some way to answering the question of who starts in goal when the club face tougher fixtures later in the campaign.
