Artem Zub unlikely to be ready for Ottawa's season opener
Ottawa coach Travis Green says defenceman Artem Zub, sidelined since 18 April with a knee injury, is progressing slowly and likely to miss the opener on 4 October.
Ottawa defenceman Artem Zub is unlikely to play in the opening game of the season, head coach Travis Green said. Zub has been out since 18 April and is still recovering from a knee injury suffered in the first round of the playoffs.
He did not have surgery in the off-season. Green described the recovery as slow.
"He has started skating a bit more. Given his current condition, I don't think he will be ready for the start of the season. It's a slow process, but we see progress," Green said.
Zub played 81 regular-season games last year and scored 30 points (5+25) with a plus-22 rating. He appeared in one playoff game before the injury.
Ottawa open the 2026/27 season against Toronto on 4 October.
