Roman Rotenberg: Indonesia Chooses Russian Hockey Methods
Russian Ice Hockey Federation vice-president Roman Rotenberg says Indonesia, keen to grow hockey, prefers the Russian 'Red Machine' approach to US or Canadian ones.
Indonesia is looking to build its own hockey programme and has chosen Russian methods over American and Canadian ones, according to Roman Rotenberg, first vice-president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation.
Rotenberg was speaking about hockey in South-East Asia. He said the talks mirror the Thai deal.
"In Indonesia they very much want to develop hockey, although they are already running their own programme," Rotenberg said. "They compare, for their part, what is better for them – American or Canadian methods. They are choosing our 'Red Machine', they visit Russia more often now, Moscow and Jakarta are working at government level."
