New York placed goaltender Vitek Vanecek on waivers to assign him to AHL Bridgeport; any NHL club can claim him within 24 hours.
The New York Islanders have placed goaltender Vitek Vanecek on waivers, clearing the way to assign him to Bridgeport of the AHL.
Any other NHL club can claim the 30-year-old within 24 hours.
Vanecek signed a one-year, $1m deal with the Islanders on 1 July. He spent last season with Utah, making 22 regular-season appearances and posting a.883 save percentage and a 2.93 goals-against average.
