Tretyak Calls Ovechkin World's Best Hockey Player
Russian Ice Hockey Federation president Vladislav Tretyak praised Ovechkin, who re-signed with Washington and trails only Gretzky in career NHL goals.
Vladislav Tretyak, president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, has called Alexander Ovechkin the best hockey player in the world.
Ovechkin agreed a one-year contract extension with Washington during the off-season. His NHL career total, including play-offs, stands at 1,006 goals — second only to Wayne Gretzky's 1,016. In regular-season play alone, Ovechkin holds the league record with 929 goals.
