Dementyev on possible Nikishin trade from Carolina to Nashville

Agent Alexei Dementyev considers a trade sending Alexander Nikishin from Carolina to Nashville possible, though he says he had not pictured one before Nashville cut its defence to pieces.
Nikishin is a defenceman and a restricted free agent with no contract for next season. Nashville lost three defencemen at once: Barron went to St Louis, while Lyubushkin and Perbix were put on waivers by the club. Asked whether that points to a deal for Nikishin, Dementyev told Sports.ru:
"Frankly, I was surprised myself by these moves by Nashville on defence, and I honestly couldn't have imagined a trade with Carolina. But, probably, yes, it's possible. What the Nashville management is guided by, we will find out in the coming days."
He added that he would welcome the move for his client's sake.
"If it is a Nashville deal, I will be happy for Alexander," Dementyev said. "Nashville is a superb city. I worked there for 8 years, and I would note that it is a great place to play hockey and a comfortable city to live in."
Nothing beyond Dementyev's words has been reported on talks between the clubs. If Nashville is refilling a blue line it emptied in one move, Nikishin's unsigned status may make him an easy piece to fit, but that is a reading, not a report.
