Razin says Tkachev missed Avangard win through illness
Metallurg coach Andrei Razin gave his word that Vladimir Tkachev has symptoms and chose to sit out the 5-1 win at Avangard, after Kiselev's criticism.
Metallurg head coach Andrei Razin said forward Vladimir Tkachev missed the 5-1 win at Avangard through illness, and he gave his word on it when pressed. Tkachev was not in the squad for the game.
Razin opened by talking about the game. "We made a good start. We played the whole match evenly. We killed off a 3-on-5, we have positive emotions and the win," he said.
He was then asked about Leonid Kiselev, who had said that punishing Tkachev by leaving him on the bench was "a crime". The question was whether this was a continuing process of educating Tkachev or a real illness. "Shall I swear?" Razin asked. The reply was that his word would do.
"Honest pioneer's word. He hasn't recovered. He has symptoms. He made this decision himself. We talked, and we have an excellent relationship. He was at the morning skate. We reached this conclusion together," Razin said.
Razin described the decision as Tkachev's own and as one reached jointly with him, while also saying the player has symptoms. If Tkachev is missing from the next squad, the same question may be put to Razin again.
