Razin snaps at reporters after Metallurg's 5-1 win over Avangard

Andrei Razin, head coach of Metallurg, snapped at reporters after his side's 5-1 win over Avangard in Omsk. He told the press conference he was tired of questions about Yakovlev and Tkachev on a night the team had won.

The question that set him off was whether losing players such as Yakovlev and Tkachev hurts the league, in a modern game where teams train a great deal and play very little. "Next question," Razin said. "Did I lose them? I have just explained everything and you ask me the same thing again. Did you listen to my earlier answers, or do you want another argument over Yakovlev?"

He then turned to the next man in the room. "Guy Boucher will come in now and you will fawn over him, and we won 5-1 and I am sitting here again as if I had been spat on. Why do you keep looking for the negative?"

Razin said reporters wanted incompatible things. "You want the team to win, and you want the people you like and support to play. You want new names to appear, but you also want to see the people you love. I have my job, you have yours."

He set a press conference against an interview. "An interview is always read and checked before it is published. If some answers or questions do not pass, they do not appear. After a game I have two hours of brainstorming and my head is boiling. I sit in front of you emotionally naked, drained, and you still look for the negative."

Razin said the Tkachev answers had not appeared anywhere. "I spent ten minutes answering two questions. When they asked me a third, I boiled over. That was not negativity towards Tkachev. It was negativity towards the correspondent, who in the end did not publish my two answers." He added that every outlet ran one extract of the exchange. The agency's report breaks off at that point.

This may mean the Yakovlev and Tkachev questions follow Razin to his next press conference, whatever the result.
