Simon Edvinsson: Contract Talks With Red Wings Turn Tough
The Detroit defenceman trained with Frölunda in Sweden as he remains a restricted free agent open to an offer sheet from another club.
Simon Edvinsson has left Detroit's training camp for Sweden, where he trained with Frölunda on 30 September, as contract talks with the Red Wings continue.
The 23-year-old defenceman is a restricted free agent without a current deal, which leaves him eligible to sign an offer sheet from another club. He had already taken part in the Red Wings' training camp before the trip. Insider Pierre LeBrun reports that negotiations have been difficult, with the next round of talks set for the coming days.
Edvinsson played 72 games last season, recording 25 points on nine goals and 16 assists, with a plus-12 rating and 75 penalty minutes.
