Andrés Eduardo Montero Cadenas

Andrés Montero came up through Zulia FC's youth system in Maracaibo and made his professional debut there in 2013, going on to become a regular starter and winning the Torneo Clausura with the club in 2016. That breakthrough season earned him a loan move to Albania, to Luftëtari Gjirokastër, before he returned to Venezuela in 2017 to sign with Deportivo Lara, with whom he won the Torneo Apertura that same year.

Since then his career has followed a well-travelled path across South America rather than settling at any one club. A loan at Carabobo FC and a spell at Deportivo Táchira, where he made 21 league appearances in 2019, were followed by moves abroad to Coquimbo Unido in Chile and Deportivo Pasto in Colombia. He returned to Venezuela with Zamora FC in 2021, scoring once in ten matches, before another spell in Colombia with Envigado FC the following year.

Montero has continued to move regularly since then, playing for Academia Puerto Cabello in 2023 and Portuguesa FC in early 2024 before joining Deportivo Rayo Zuliano, where he stayed through the 2025 season. Most of these switches have come as free transfers or loans rather than fees changing hands. He signed for Estudiantes de Mérida on a free transfer in January 2026.

He has not been capped for Venezuela's senior national team. Across his career to date, Montero has scored 26 goals in 243 matches.
