About the player
Daníel Tristan Guðjohnsen was born in London and made his way into the game through two of the biggest academies in world football, first at CF Gavà and then at FC Barcelona's La Masia, before Real Madrid took him into their youth setup. He left Madrid for Malmö FF in August 2022, at just 16, initially joining the Swedish club's academy ranks rather than the first team.
The promotion came quickly. Guðjohnsen was moved up to Malmö's first team in April 2023 and made his professional debut that June. He has since won the Allsvenskan title with the club in both 2023 and 2024. In October 2023, The Guardian named him among the best players born in 2006 worldwide as part of its "Next Generation 2023" list.
On the international stage, Guðjohnsen has represented Iceland at U16, U17, U19 and U21 level. His senior debut arrived on September 9, 2025, when he started in a 1–2 defeat away to France at the Parc des Princes. He has earned six senior caps for Iceland without yet opening his scoring account.
At 190cm and right-footed, he plays as a forward for Malmö FF, the club where he has taken shape.
