About the player
Felix Wimmer came up through SV Ried's own youth system, joining the club's U12 section and staying there until 2015. Two seasons at SK Altheim were followed by a longer spell at Union Gurten, where he grew into one of the more established goalkeepers in the Regionalliga Mitte, making 154 league appearances for the club. His time there included a run to the second round of the ÖFB-Cup in 2023/24, ended by a 2:5 extra-time defeat to SK Rapid Wien, and a second-placed finish in the league table that same season.
In May 2024, Wimmer returned to Ried, the club where he had started as a boy, and signed formally on 1 July 2024, putting his name to a contract running until 2028. His first season back was a quiet one on the pitch: a single league appearance, on 30 May 2025 against First Vienna FC, came right at the end of the 2024/25 2. Liga campaign. It was enough to be part of a squad that won the division and secured promotion to the Bundesliga.
Wimmer has not featured for any Austrian national team, at senior or youth level. His path so far has been built through steady club football rather than international recognition.
