Gonçalo Moreira

Gonçalo Moreira made his first-team debut for Benfica in the Primeira Liga on 12 April 2026, in a match against Nacional, after progressing through the club's youth ranks.

He joined Benfica's academy in 2018, having previously come through Pedrouços Atlético Clube and the youth set-up at SL Braga. At Benfica, he moved up through the age groups — U15, U17, U19 and U23 — and signed his first professional contract with the club on 9 October 2022, aged 16.

His scoring record as a youth player stood out for a midfielder: in the 2021/22 season, he found the net 19 times in 26 games for Benfica's Juvenis B (U17) side. In March 2025, he was named Liga Portugal 2's Young Player of the Month after scoring twice and setting up another goal that month.

In July 2025, he was promoted to Benfica B for Liga Portugal 2 football, where he made 27 appearances this season, contributing four goals. He has also represented Portugal at U21 and U19 level, scoring twice in three caps for the U21s — including his first international goal in a 4-0 win over Azerbaijan — and once in seven appearances for the U19s.
