About the player
Hugo Silveira's biggest moment in continental football came almost as soon as he arrived at Nacional. Signed from Cerro in July 2016 for a fee of around €488,000, he made his Copa Libertadores debut for the club against Lanús in March 2017 and scored the winning goal.
Silveira's career since has seen him move through a long string of clubs rather than settling anywhere for long. Free transfers then carried him to Patronato, Querétaro in Mexico, the Chilean side Ñublense, and back to Uruguay with Rentistas and Cerro Largo. He scored eight goals in the 2024 season before his contract was terminated and he joined Racing Club de Montevideo on a free transfer in July 2024.
Across his career he has scored 36 goals in 153 matches in all competitions. Silveira represented Uruguay at under-15 and under-17 level as a youth player but has not gone on to earn a senior cap.
