Iván Gabriel Maggi

Ten goals in the 2026 Apertura is the number that has followed Iván Maggi around Paraguay this year. Signed by Sportivo Luqueño in January 2026 as a free agent, he has since recorded 11 goals and two assists in 26 matches in the Division Profesional.

He joined the Racing Club academy in 2012 and stayed seven years before being promoted to the senior squad in 2019. His debut came that November. The first professional contract followed in October 2020, carrying a release clause set at €22 million. In practice the Racing years produced nine league appearances and one goal, plus two outings in the group stage of the 2021 Copa Libertadores. He was part of the squad that won the Trofeo de Campeones in 2019.

The route to regular football ran through loans. San Martín de Tucumán took him for 2022: 16 appearances, two goals. Club Atlético Güemes came next in 2023, and there the volume changed — 32 appearances, seven goals. A 2024 loan at Club Atlético Nueva Chicago brought 43 appearances and six goals, enough for the club to sign him permanently for 2025. That season returned seven goals in 30 matches, 29 of them in the league.

Reports around the move to Luqueño said an investor backed the transfer to secure his future rights; no fee was disclosed. Across all competitions his career now stands at roughly 134 matches and 25 goals. He has never been capped by Argentina at senior level.
