About the player
Igor Leshchuk is a Dynamo Moscow product through and through, having joined the academy at the age of nine.
The goalkeeper's name will forever be tied to one moment: on 2 December 2024, in the 95th minute of a Russian Premier League match against Akhmat Grozny, Leshchuk rose to meet a corner from Fabiano Bitello and headed home the equaliser in a 1–1 draw. The goal made him the first goalkeeper in the competition's history to score from open play.
Leshchuk has collected individual recognition along the way, being voted Dynamo Moscow's Player of the Month by supporters in August 2019, September 2021 and October 2023, and picking up the VTB Player of the Month award in September 2021 and October 2023. He has also had his share of team success, winning bronze medals in the Russian Premier League in the 2021/22 and 2023/24 seasons, and played in every match of Dynamo's run to the 2022 Russian Cup final, which the club lost to Lokomotiv Moscow.
At international level, Leshchuk represented Russia at youth level, featuring for the U15, U16 and U21 sides.
