About the player
Jan Jurčec carries two footballing identities on his passport: Croatian by birth, Polish through his mother. He has represented Croatia at Under-21 level instead, making his debut against Poland.
His breakthrough came at NK Kustošija, where he settled into a right-sided role that let him push forward from full-back or operate as a winger. The high point arrived in the 2021/22 season, when he finished as the club's top scorer in the Croatian Second Football League with eight goals in 26 matches. That form earned him a free transfer to Austria's Rheindorf Altach, where he spent two seasons and made 58 appearances before his contract ran out.
The following months were quieter: released by Altach, he spent close to nine months without a club. He eventually found a new home at Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, joining on a free transfer and wearing the number two shirt as he worked his way into the side.
Through the shifts in league and country, Jurčec has kept the same profile: a right-footed defender.
