About the player
Jeremy Mejía In 2024, while still working his way into El Nacional's squad, he was named among the substitutes as the club won the Copa Ecuador, coming off the bench in matches that included the tie against Mushuk Runa that October.
He started out in the academy at Cuniburo FC, where his career in football began, before joining El Nacional's set-up in 2024. His involvement grew from occasional appearances in Ecuador's top-flight Liga Pro that year, when he also set up goals for team-mates, to a fuller role the following season, when he scored in the league.
Mejía moved on to Deportivo Cuenca in 2026, taking the number 16 shirt in a switch that brought him his first taste of continental football. He made three appearances in the club's Copa Sudamericana campaign that year, including the match against Argentina's San Lorenzo in May 2026.
He has not yet been called into Ecuador's senior national team.
