About the player
Meng Jingchao came through Shanghai Port's academy, moving up through the club's U21 and B sides before making his senior debut for the first team in May 2022. He stayed on the books long enough to collect two Chinese Super League titles, in 2024 and 2025, and a Chinese FA Cup in 2024, while also getting minutes in the AFC Champions League across two seasons.
His actual game time at senior level came mostly in the lower divisions on Shanghai Port's books rather than in the top flight itself: 25 appearances in China League One in 2024, with a goal and an assist, followed by 15 matches for Shanghai Port B in China League Two in 2025, where he also scored once. The Champions League appearances for the first team were limited to three outings spread across two campaigns.
In February 2026, Meng was loaned out to Qingdao West Coast, the club still referred to by many under its earlier name, Qingdao Youth Island, for the rest of the 2026 season. He played 22 matches for his loan club.
He has yet to be capped by the senior national team.
