About the player

Kazper Karlsson came through Halmstads BK's academy after starting out at BK Häcken, and he signed his first professional contract in July 2021 and made his senior debut for Halmstads that August, aged just 16.

His performances at youth level, including an appearance at the 2022 U17 European Championship with Sweden, drew attention beyond Scandinavia, and in early 2024 Bologna FC 1909 moved to sign him from Halmstads. Karlsson's time there was spent with the Primavera side rather than the first team, and he did not make his senior debut for the club.

A year later, Karlsson returned to Sweden, joining AIK on a permanent deal at the start of January 2025 and putting pen to paper on a contract running until the end of 2028. He was loaned out to Degerfors IF at the end of August that year for the remainder of the 2025 season. AIK and Degerfors have since extended the arrangement to cover the whole of the 2026 campaign as well, with the loan also carrying a purchase option for the Superettan club.

A right-footed midfielder standing 183 cm tall, Karlsson looks to build on the promise he showed as a teenager in Halmstad.
