About the player

He had joined Young Boys in June 2022 straight from a loan spell at Atletico Lusaka, itself an extension of his time in the Shamuel Academy system back in Zambia. At Young Boys he won the Swiss Super League and the Swiss Cup in the 2022–23 season, and in February 2024 he was sent out on loan to FC Schaffhausen, where he made 14 appearances in the Swiss Challenge League.

Chaiwa made his senior debut for Zambia on 20 March 2022, in a 3–1 friendly defeat to Iraq, and has since gone on to earn 16 caps without scoring. He was part of the squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, played in early 2024, starting against Morocco and coming off the bench against Tanzania. He was named again in Zambia's 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, and started the match against the hosts in December 2025.
