About the player
Mathys Detourbet came through Troyes's own youth system, starting out at Municipalité Troyes before joining the ESTAC academy in 2015. He spent years working his way up the ranks before the club gave him his first taste of senior football.
His progress at reserve level was rapid: in the 2024–2025 season he scored seven goals in twelve appearances for ESTAC Troyes B, numbers that pushed him into first-team contention. He made his senior debut on 15 January 2025, coming on in the Coupe de France against Rennes, and the club rewarded him with his first professional contract that May.
The following season brought a step change. Detourbet was a regular for Troyes throughout the 2025–2026 campaign, making around 46 appearances and scoring three goals in Ligue 2 as the club won the title and secured promotion. For a player who had only just signed his first professional deal, it was a rapid rise from the reserve side to a title-winning first-team squad.
That form did not go unnoticed. In June 2026, Manchester City agreed a deal to sign him from Troyes for a fee reported to be worth up to €25 million.
