About the player

Márk Szécsi came through the Debreceni VSC academy, playing for the club's reserve side before breaking into the senior squad in 2012. He was capped as the Hungarian Youth Footballer of the Year in 2011, and within the first two years of his top-team career helped Debrecen to the Hungarian Championship in 2013–14 and the Hungarian Cup in 2013.

Loan spells shaped his early development away from Debrecen: he went to Kecskemét in 2014, then to Nyíregyháza Spartacus, where he later joined permanently before moving on to Puskás Akadémia on a free transfer. During his time at Puskás Akadémia, he returned to Debrecen on loan, and in 2019 made that reunion permanent, signing back with the club for a second time.

Szécsi represented Hungary through the youth ranks, from U17 through U19 to U21, scoring regularly at U17 and U19 level, though he has not featured for the senior national team.

Back at Debreceni VSC, Szécsi has settled into a key role in the squad, appearing in the club's UEFA Conference League fixtures.
