Murray Johnson

Murray Johnson grew up in the Hibernian academy, signing his first professional contract in December 2020. Since then he has been sent out on loan almost every season: to Airdrieonians in 2022/23, where he made six league appearances and was named Player of the Month for August 2022, and again in 2024/25, when he added eleven more league appearances there. Two separate loan spells at Queen of the South, in 2023 and 2025, brought only a single appearance each — the first cut short when Hibernian recalled him in August 2023 because of injuries at the parent club.

His clearest run of form came at Greenock Morton, where a loan from February 2026 brought ten league appearances and a place in the SPFL Team of the Week after his display against Ayr United. In July 2026 he moved on again, joining Shelbourne on loan for the rest of the season and taking the number 13 shirt, though he had yet to make a competitive appearance for the club by the end of that month.

Johnson has represented Scotland at every age group from Under-16 through to Under-21, making his U21 debut in March 2025 against the Republic of Ireland. His only team honour so far is an under-18 league title won with Hibernian, but his most memorable moments came earlier still, in the UEFA Youth League with Hibernian's Under-19s, where he saved a penalty in a shootout against Molde and later found himself facing Borussia Dortmund.
