Nicolas Wimmer

Nicolas Wimmer's route to Wolfsberger AC ran almost entirely through the lower rungs of Austrian football. After coming through the youth ranks, he started his senior career at ASKÖ Donau Linz, then spent five seasons at Vorwärts Steyr, where he was part of the side that won promotion to the 2. Liga in 2018. A move to Blau-Weiß Linz in February 2021 brought his first trophy: the club won the 2. Liga title that year, and Wimmer was named to the league's Team of the Season, even though Blau-Weiß Linz chose not to apply for a Bundesliga licence and stayed put.

That form earned him a switch to SK Austria Klagenfurt, where he stayed for three seasons before joining Wolfsberger AC. In May 2025, Wimmer was part of the Wolfsberger squad that beat TSV Hartberg 1–0 in the ÖFB-Cup final, a goal from Angelo Gattermayer settling it. It was the first major trophy in the club's history.

A left-footed defender, Wimmer wears the number 37 shirt at Wolfsberger AC. He has not been called up to the Austria national team at any level, his career built instead on steady progress through Donau Linz, Vorwärts Steyr, Blau-Weiß Linz and Austria Klagenfurt.
